Description:

The Department of Environment (NI) recently sought views on the need for a Northern Ireland Climate Change Bill.

IPH has a keen interest in the effects of climate change on health. In September 2010 we published a paper – Climate Change and Health: A platform for action  - to inform policy makers and the public about the health benefits in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. We are a member of the Northern Ireland Climate Change and Health Group and have contributed to the UK Climate Change Risk Assessment process in Northern Ireland.

IPH welcomes the opportunity to comment on the need for a Northern Ireland Climate Change Bill. This submission responds to questions 1, 2 and 11.
