Description:

The Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety (DHSSPS) and the Department of Justice (DOJ) have jointly developed a draft Adult Safeguarding Policy. The development of the draft policy is a Programme for Government Commitment and we are seeking your views on this draft policy and on whether legislation is required to underpin it.
The intention of the draft policy is to improve safeguarding arrangements for adults who are at risk of harm from abuse, exploitation or neglect, thereby reducing the prevalence of harm and providing adults at risk of harm with effective support and, where necessary, protective responses, including access to justice. It aims to raise awareness of harm to adults at risk, defines harm, illustrates how harm manifests itself and identifies who can assist to combat it and how that can be done.
