Avoidable injury is a major cause of death and disability, and land transport accidents are the largest cause of accidental death in the East Midlands, accounting for almost 27% of all such deaths in 2005.

This report uses various sources of data to profile avoidable injury due to land transport accidents in the East Midlands. Comparisons are made with other English Regions and, where available, data are presented at sub-Region (Local Authority) level.
