[Comment] Ending childhood obesity: a multidimensional challenge

On March 16, 2015, the Interim Report of WHO's Commission on Ending Childhood Obesity opened for online consultation.1 The report seeks to promote consultation rather than be a definitive paper. The establishment of the Commission was announced last year during the 2014 World Health Assembly by WHO's Director-General Margaret Chan with the mandate to advise on effective strategies to tackle childhood and adolescent obesity in different contexts around the world. The Commission has met twice to review the scientific evidence on obesity prevention and the analysis provided by two supporting ad-hoc working groups on Science and Evidence and on Implementation, Monitoring, and Accountability.
